Davidson students looking to expand their horizons can now start planning for a semester abroad—Spring 2026 study abroad applications officially open on April 1, 2025. This marks an earlier-than-usual timeline, giving students more time to explore programs, prepare their materials, and chart their global path.  In spring 2026 we'll be offering our Davidson in Madrid faculty-led program, as well as over a hundred partner program options in Africa, Asia, Australia & the Pacific Islands, Europe, and South America.  The Office of Education Abroad & Away encourages students from all majors to consider how a semester abroad can enrich their academic and personal growth.

Why Consider Spring Abroad?

  • Apply for the spring Heitz-Wagener Grant, which provides $1,500 for independent exploration after your study abroad program
  • Enjoy cheaper travel costs and smaller crowds in the tourist off-season, as well as milder weather and interesting cultural events in many locations
  • No worries about missing important U.S. holidays in the fall, and no need to rush home for the winter holidays at the end of your program
  • If applicable, apply for your student visa without disrupting your summer plans - fall program visa timelines often conflict with summer opportunities

And finally...

  • All Davidson students who go abroad for spring 2026 will receive a $500 incentive grant to be used towards non-program-related expenses while abroad!  Grant funds are disbursed once students arrive to their programs.

To make the most of this opportunity, students are strongly encouraged to schedule their required study abroad advising appointment early in the process. Advisors can help navigate program options, the credit transfer process, financial planning, and more. Whether you’re just starting to explore or already have a destination in mind, now’s the perfect time to take the first step toward a transformative experience abroad. Visit the Office of Education Abroad & Away website to learn more and book your appointment.
