Krentz Rome SB 2020Overview

Departing Friday, February 28, and returning Saturday, March 7, this trip will explore the topography, monuments, and art of Augustan Rome. Travel, housing, meals, and admission tickets will be covered. To be eligible, take either CLA 336: Augustus and the Roman Republic or LAT 288/388: Transition to Empire, plus at least one additional classics course.

Students will be accepted in the following order:

  1. Students taking two additional courses in CLA, GRE, or LAT (GRE 103 counts as two).
  2. Students taking one additional course in CLA, GRE, or LAT.
If we need to break a tie, priority will go to the student who applied first. The application will be available here from 5:00 pm on November 15, the day the first drop/add period for the spring semester ends, through Wednesday, November 20 at 11:59 pm. We plan to inform applicants of their status by November 25 and ask for a firm commitment to go by December 5.

Students who went on the Spring 2017 trip to Athens may participate in this trip, space permitting.

In cases where the college has security concerns, the program director and the Dean Rusk Program Director will gather information and make a recommendation to the Dean of Faculty. The dean will take a decision to the president, who retains ultimate authority to decide whether or not a particular Davidson-sponsored program should proceed.
